The city of Dallas is one of the largest settlements in the United States, and it is among the largest cities in Texas. With the dawn of the 21st century, the city saw changes in their skyline, partly because of the construction of several high rises all over the city. Compared to other cities in the United States like New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, Dallas has a moderate number of skyscrapers, with the tallest being the Bank of America Plaza, which only stands at 921 feet. Construction companies in Dallas are also working to improve the infrastructure in the city, and several contractors are being called upon by businesses who wanted to invest in the city and create their skyscraper of choice. Currently, the number of high rises in the city is at 33, and it is expected to increase as more businesses and corporations wanted to build their own skyscraper in the city.

The tallest building in Dallas today is the Bank of America Plaza, and it was constructed in 1985. This is also regarded as the tallest office building in the city, home to one of the most influential financial institutions in the United States. The Bank of America Plaza has been standing for more than more than 30 years, and no other skyscraper managed to beat its height. The Renaissance Tower is another skyscraper in Dallas, and it stands at 886 feet high. The skyscraper was constructed in 1974, more than a decade before the construction of the Bank of America Plaza.

The Comerica Bank Tower, which stands at 787 feet, is the third tallest skyscraper in the city. Another high rise in Dallas would be the JP Morgan Chase Tower, standing at 738 feet. Finally, Fountain Place, which was constructed in 1986, is the fifth tallest building in the city, standing at 720 feet. The five tallest skyscrapers in Dallas were built between the 1970s to 1980s, symbolizing the economic boom experienced in the city. Right after the economic miracle experienced in Dallas, no other skyscraper that exceeded the height of the Bank of America Plaza was ever built. The buildings which are under construction in Dallas are all standing below 562 feet, around 400 feet less compared to the city’s tallest building. However, the city government of Dallas is expecting more investors to drive into the city, and as the land price around Dallas begins to spike, the city planning office is expecting that skyscrapers would start to grow taller.

Aside from skyscrapers that are dominating much of the downtown area, Dallas is also known for its affordable housing located at the suburbs. The city’s suburban population is expected to rise as more people are coming into Dallas to work and study. Experts agree that the skyline of the city would totally transform once the suburbs have been developed. There are now proposals to build residential complexes in these areas, and despite the architecture’s height not reaching those which are in the downtown area, this might change, when the prices of the lot started to climb up.
